CAQH today announced its support for a resolution passed by the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association (NLGA) recognizing the need for administrative simplification in our nation’s healthcare system.
“Making healthcare automated and efficient requires the ongoing commitment and collaboration of federal and state policymakers and stakeholders across the industry,” said Randi Chapman, CAQH Director, State Relations. “By passing this resolution, NLGA has made a powerful statement that healthcare simplification is a priority for state leaders.”
Since its inception 20 years ago, CAQH has brought stakeholders together to identify administrative inefficiencies and develop solutions to streamline the business of healthcare. And while much progress has been made, many manual processes remain. The 2019 CAQH Index found that while the industry has already avoided $102 billion annually with electronic transactions, further automation could save an additional $13.3 billion.
“This resolution recognizes that less complexity could contribute to improved access to care, reduced provider burden and cost savings,” said Chapman. “Today, these goals are more important than ever, and we hope that this statement by the Lieutenant Governors inspires stakeholders to work together to make further progress.”
This resolution was passed with the leadership of Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch (IN), Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax (VA), Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford (MD), and Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist (MI) who sponsored it.
